Other Reading on Mind and Spirit

The judgments of “right” and “wrong” are so much a part of what we learned during our childhoods that we believe life has rights and wrongs built into the fabric of the universe, just as it has trees and mountains. But it doesn’t. They’re entirely in the assumptions and perspectives we each hold. More . . .

The Physics of the Mind

Our mind is who we really are in eternity, and it appears certain that the material realm exists for us to have experiences. We are the ones that collapse all the possibilities into what we experience, just by intending to experience it. That’s physics, not metaphysics. More . . .

Abortion is not a spiritual issue, but the hate, conflict, and judgment that people feel on all sides of the debate are spiritual issues. More . . .

Suffering in the World

Except for physical pain and the sadness we feel when we are separated from our loved ones by death, all of our frustrations, grief, and alienation, and suffering result from the reality we create for ourselves in the world, and from the society that we have created because we remain prisoners to our childhoods. The question isn’t “Why doesn’t God alleviate the suffering in the world?” The question is, “Why don’t we alleviate the suffering we inflict on ourselves and others.” More . . .

Yeshua ben Yosef and Spiritual Growth

Yeshua never suggested that swearing allegiance to him would admit someone to the Kingdom of God. This is what he said:

The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: metanoia (μετάνοια), and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:15 )

The word “metanoia” has been translated as “repent,” but that is a mistaken translation using a word that has grown far from the meaning of the word “metanoia.”  The Greek μετάνοια is a combination of μετά (after, with) and the verb νοέω (to perceive, to think, the result of perceiving or observing).  Metanoia means "a change of mind". It does not mean “repent” in the sense that I’ve done bad things and I have to confess that I’m an awful person.  It means, “I must become a new creature by changing my thought patterns.”  Yeshua was saying that those hearing his words must undergo a change of perspective, a transformation of the mind to an entirely new view of themselves, the world, and God. That will result in the kingdom of God. More . . .

The Failure of Religion and Dominance of Materialism

Today, humanity is dominated by materialism, a belief system that has hold of nearly all people, even those who belong to the world's prominent religions.  The grip of materialism is actually strongest in the nation that has the highest rate of belief in Christianity, the United States.  The result has been devastating. More . . .

Materialism Results in Unsatisfied Hygienic Needs

The focus on the material realm, with its ignorance about our nature as eternal beings having a physical experience, its focus on individuals getting and consuming at the cost of others, its promotion of competition that results in treating people as objects, its promotion of the importance of having wealth, property, and beauty, and its suppression of the inner sense of love and compassion, leaves people unsuccessfully grappling to satisfy the lower level hygienic needs their entire lives. The Death Penalty: Murder by Law

Murder by law is a spiritual problem. It can only be solved by eradicating it from humankind. More . . .

Schools: Archaic Institutions that Impede Spiritual Growth

Today, schools are an anachronism. Certain skills will help children function better in the world today, such as reading, writing, and arithmetic, but they don’t need to be taught in schools. Schools teach nothing of spirituality or the truths of the universe, the subjects of primary importance to eternal beings whose primary focus is to grow in spiritual maturity. More . . .
